Time to pay attention to Empire Metals
“…We’re in the right area, we’ve got a good team and we’ve got great potential to be the next big mover in the Australian market…”
“No hard feelings mate?”
You can imagine the conversation between Empire Metals MD Shaun Bunn and world renowned prospector Mel Dalla-Costa.
Mel had introduced the AIM-listed resource exploration and development company to the Central Menzies Gold Project in Western Australia but within nine months of that introduction, Empire had drilled, assessed and walked away. Bunn admitted there was smoke, but there wasn’t fire and his philosophy is not to fall in love with projects particularly when there’s not much obvious economic reward.
Dalla-Costa though was one of the first to congratulate Bunn on Empire’s recent agreement for the Gindalbie Gold Project. It’s adjacent to Empire’s Eclipse Gold Project and extends the current area for exploration targets by over 200%.
The two projects are so close that Bunn was able to ‘walk’ the drilling rig from Eclipse to Gindalbie and start drilling there before the ink on the agreement was dry.
Although Bunn doesn’t fall in love with projects, he is slightly smitten with the current arrangement which he hopes will demonstrate there’s “a consistent ore body that we can bring into production.”
He’s a man of prudent technical science and timeliness. After all the Georgian asset was disposed of last summer under his stewardship, and therefore the company does not have the geopolitical distractions that are currently company breaking.
Bunn is more interested in company makers, and as he explains to Sarah Lowther: “I’ve got grander plans for Empire. I think we can bring a substantial exploration camp here in Australia that we would look to make a real discovery of significance. One that people will really pay attention to. A company maker.”
Watch Shaun speak with Proactive London’s Katie Pilbeam about the beginning of drilling at the Gindalbie gold project.
