From Yorkshire Roots to Golden Reserves : Mark Greenwood’s passion for Lexington Gold
“…Well the no brainer on the table is Harmony Gold. Why people have not latched on to the fact that we already have a JORC Compliant resource is beyond me…”
New Lexington Gold non-executive director Mark Greenwood has an 8% shareholding in the gold exploration and development company. He also has a network that trusts his judgement and his friends have invested though maybe not to the same extent as Greenwood ….yet.
He’s not a fund manager, but with an emerging market, stockbroking background, this businessman with canny Yorkshire heritage has made his money, but still wants to bang on more doors and evangelise further about the company that has ‘plenty-of-gold’ assets in the U.S. and South Africa.
“It’s still about ounces, ounces, ounces, ounces,” says Greenwood. “We’ve got some in the bag, some in America, a lot more in a JV with a very reputable gold company in South Africa and we have the potential to add an awful lot more.”
Greenwood explains the company already has a JORC compliant reserve in a deep mine in South Africa with grades of six grams a ton with six million ounces of potential reserves. Additionally he talks about the potential of “the more green virgin sites like Kroonstad which on its own could be another 60 to 90 million ounce gold field.”
Ahead of the metal’s extraction, Lexington investors including Greenwood who bought into the stock when gold was $1500, are no doubt getting a daily dopamine hit when they watch the price of the precious metal hit fresh records. October saw gold hit $4000.
As a board member, Greenwood and his 32.5 million shares are locked in, but as he explains to Sarah Lowther in this video interview, when the opportunity arises he may well buy more.
“As far as I’m concerned, and one or two of my friends, if we have to tip more money into this at some stage of the game, we’re happy to do that because me and my friends, the ones who have invested together with me are actually just as keen on this thing as I am. We need bang for the buck.”
