Copper is Coming : ACG Metals Executes While Others Just Hope

“…In these volatile times, it’s great to be generating cash, have low net debt, which means we are well positioned to withstand any volatility…”

When asked if ACG Metals is ‘hopeful’ it will become a copper producer in the first half of this year, founder and chief executive Artem Volynets clarifies succinctly: “Hope is not a strategy. We are very much executing on time and on budget to get to production in the middle of this year.”

It will be another string to the company’s bow.  In 18 months it has main board listed in London, bought the polymetallic Gediktepe Mine in Turkey, is selling gold and silver every week, has exceeded its own production guidance for what is has now and just been admitted to the MSCI World Micro Cap Index.

“We’re a young company, a new kid on the block. We’ve been as an operating company around for a year and a half, which is a very short period of time, but we’re proud of what we have achieved,” says Volynets.

The Gediktepe Mine was the company’s first acquisition and was purchased for its significant cash generating properties.  Precious metals gold and silver are already being extracted and copper will soon follow once the Sulphide plant is assembled and commissioned ready for production by the middle of this year.

From inception ACG Metals was positioning itself as a consolidator and continues to look for other acquisitions.  The conflict in the Middle East may perversely present opportunities for the company which is shielded from the war because Gediktepe is some 3000 kilometres away from Iran located on the Mediterranean side; and while the price of copper, gold and silver has softened over the past few months, the war and its arsenal will be a future demand driver for copper in particular.

As Artem explains to Sarah Lowther in this video interview, with aspirations for  an additional exchange listing, the idea is there will be greater liquidity in the stock giving investors greater exposure to a company that doesn’t include ‘hope’ as part of its strategy but does include higher volumes and the accumulation of a significant cash position.
