From Olserum to Opportunity : European Green Transition’s Roadmap to Real Returns
“…Rare earths have really come into focus. There is no active rare earth mine in Europe. It’s critical Europe can develop a secure supply of rare earths…”
When European Green Transition listed in 2024, the company came to market with the Olserum Rare Earth Project in Sweden described by the company as “district scale” opportunity.
The drive to proving this hypothesis hasn’t changed, and Chief Financial Officer Jack Kelly reminds investors there’s no active rare earth mine in Europe and the plan is to monetise, or sell or partner the project and crucially “We see that there’s a pretty clear roadmap for an incoming acquirer or partner to get it there.”
Rare earths and the demand for them are headline making and Olserum has critical strategic importance stamped all over it, but the Swedish project is just part of the European Green Transition’s offering as it targets revenue stage projects not just in the green economy but enterprises that can generate a “strong return” for shareholders.
Enter Mick Kearney as a recent non-executive director. He’s the co-founder of the Home Instead Senior Care Ireland business, and his appointment suggests the company might explore opportunities in the healthcare services sector.
The clock is ticking as Chairman Cathal Friel has gone on the record to say small cap companies take three to five years to work from cradle through gestation to fulfilment. The sub context no doubt is the other companies he has been associated with which have made their inflection points within that timeframe.
European Green Transition is at the early stage of its development and as Jack explains to Sarah Lowther in this video interview, the team has extensive experience in transforming distressed businesses into sustainable, profitable companies and “we’re working really hard to push forward a number of opportunities in the revenue generating space.”
Value generation has begun, and the latest shareholder update is about the signing of an option agreement for the sale of its Pajala Copper Project in Sweden which demonstrates commitment to execute and move forwards.
