The pathway to processing is on track for Empire Metals
“…Circle the wagons and wait for everyone to try to storm us because the value that we’ll add over the next 18 months is enormous…”
In the first quarter of 2024, investors were treated to the news that Empire Metals had discovered a high-grade titanium deposit at its Pitfield project in western Australia. Now, today the announcement of a major new Titanium Dioxide Mineral discovery at Pitfield
“Nobody else has got an ore body anything like this,” says Managing Director Shaun Bunn. “A hydrothermal, titanium ore body in a sedimentary soft rock system that is the biggest thing on the planet.”
The project has undisputed scale, but the low hanging fruit rewards are closer to surface than previously thought, and will provide a shortcut for the company’s ambition to becoming a fully integrated titanium producer of high-quality products.
What’s just been discovered are the large deposits of the highly valuable titanium dioxide minerals rutile and anatase which are sought after by the chloride pigment industry and the manufacturers making welding rods amongst others.
Bunn describes these as ‘very high end’ and ‘high value,’ and it’s no wonder at this stage of the business plan that the company wants to go it alone with the support of geological genius from universities, and the Commonwealth Scientific Industry Research Organisation, the federal government body with scientists that are titanium experienced.
The Pitfield Project is attracting attention as is the company’s success rate. It has drilled over 107 drill holes into the ore body and hit mineralisation every time. “People have got the sense of giant scale,” says Bunn. “People have now realised that the grade is almost continuous and it’s a high grade, seven to ten times higher value in situ than a typical mineral sand.”
Those ‘people’ include persons from a critical metals facility in Canberra, and the German ambassador who recently made it known that ‘if Australia makes it, Germany will buy it.’
As Bunn tells Sarah Lowther in this video interview the pathway to processing is on track, and the value that is going to be added over the next 18 months is ‘enormous.’
