Who is Nick Leeson
Nicholas William Leeson[2] (born 25 February 1967) is a former English derivatives trader notorious for bankrupting Barings Bank, the United Kingdom’s oldest merchant bank. He was a rogue trader who made fraudulent, unauthorized, and speculative moves, and his actions led directly to the 1995 collapse of the bank, for which he was sentenced to prison.
However we had the great pleasure of catching up with Nick Leeson, the man blamed for the collapse of Barings Bank, however, the myth and mystery surrounding him were very different to the person interviewed. Leeson candidly talks about his introduction to city life, before going east to Singapore where his final demise took place.
Mr. Leeson has an air of something special about him, yet holds the common touch, which is all the more appealing to those who hear his story. He continues to trade, although in a retail fashion these days, and can be seen on the motivational speaking circuit.
